Nina Machado, Executive Director
Nina has resided in Amador County since 1990.  Nina was hired as the Executive Director of First 5 Amador in March 2002.  Prior to this, she worked in the area of Public Health for ten years.  For five of those yeas, Nina assisted Amador County Public Health Nursing with the Child Health and Disability Prevention Program and eventually moved into a health education position with Tobacco Reduction of Amador County.  Nina worked closely with the community and local governments to gain policies and ordinances regarding youth access to tobacco and environmental tobacco smoke.  Nina has two grown children and serves as a board member of a local non-profit that provides support to cancer patients and their families.


Tracy Carlton, Project Coordinator
Tracy came to work for the Commission in 2001 after completing her Masters degree in Social & Cultural Anthropology. She has experience in both the non-profit and private sectors, including skills in strategic planning, database management, fundraising campaigns and business planning. Tracy has lived in Amador County since 1999 and has a young son. She has a strong commitment to children and the creative arts.


Erika Simmons, Program Coordinator
Erika grew up in Amador County and has always had a passion for supporting local families, particularly its children. Erika has a degree with a concentration in Early Childhood Education, and was a licensed family child care provider for 7 years. She then went on to do further work in the child development field, and worked for a local resource & referral organization for another 7 years. In that capacity, Erika worked as a certified trainer and mentor to licensed child care providers, as well as educating families on, and advocating for, high quality child care. Erika has served as a board member for two local non-profit groups, was a founding board member of a local child care provider association, and now serves as a member of the Amador Child Care Council. She came to work for First 5 Amador in 2014, and resides in Amador County with her husband and two children.
